Basingstoke Look Up - Graddon
« on: Monday 04 August 08 22:19 BST (UK) »
Trying to locate information re Edward Graddon born in Basingstoke around 1787.

His approx birth date is on IGI but no information re source of data.

I have carried out a brief search of the St Michaels baptism records but have not located him so far.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Both his birth and marriage details on the IGI are submitted records and can be unreliable.  It indicates that somebody else is researching the same family

Submitted info is frequently based on guesswork as in this case - no firm dates or locations are shown
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Found this on 'A......y'.

Edward Graddon died 1850 Basingstoke  Vol 7, Page 40.

There are very many Graddons in Basingstoke.

Just checking IGI, the name is spelt 'Gradden', but as Carole says IGI ???

Whoops.

I've been to HRO today and had a quick look for Edward Graddon.  The baptisms are virtually impossible to read and the person I thought was your Edward who died in 1850 was in fact only 32 so he would have been born around 1818.

Edward who died in 1850 is in fact the son of the Edward that I am looking for.

Edward Graddon (born cica 1787) married Mary Lee in 1809 and Harriet Brown in 1812. He had 3 children.

John b1813
Stella b1815 and
Edward (Jnr) b1817, d1850

I am trying to find out when Edward  senior was born and when he died also any information on
Stella - did she marry

Thank you all for your help so far :)
