Hi Adam

I was born and spent my early childhood in Crook but now no longer live in the area.  My family tree so far has extended to Stanley Crook, Tow Law, Frosterley and Wolsingham.

Kind regards

Marie   :)

Hello Marie. Here are the inscriptions:-

Hannah Dawson of Crook, who died 1819 aged 71 years.
Also Jonathan Dawson, her beloved husband, who died February/22/1819? aged 75 years. ( I think the dates for this one at Crook are wrong. Although the dates look like 1819 they are both affected by lichen and could be 1919.

In affectionate remembrance of Matthew Dawson of Crook, died October/7/1877 aged 67 years.
Also Mary Dawson, wife of the above who died June/30/1885 aged 63 years.
Also Robert Dawson, son of the above died 1838? aged 5 months
And the children of the above , Susannah, Arthur, and Ada Murray aged 3 years and 3 months..

In affectionate remembrance of Joseph Dawson of Crook who died December/13/1870 aged 34 years.
Also Frederick, son of the above , who departed this life April/15/1870 aged 1 year.

IN loving memory of Margaret, the beloved wife of Robert Dawson of Crook, who died June/4/1878 aged 60 years.
William Mitchell Dawson, their son, who died September/16/1876 aged 18 years.
Also Robert Dawson, died August/30/???? aged 67 years.

Adam.

In loving memory of Wilfred, beloved son of John and Mary Ann Trenerry, 45 Billy Row, Crook, who died March 4th 1927 aged 20 years.

Hi Adam

I see that you have been kindly providing inscriptions from Crook cemetary.

I am researching my husband's family tree and wondered if sometime you would be able to let me have any information you may have on the surnames Dowson and Lawson please?

I am particularly trying to find information on Albert Leighton Lawson and Nina Dowson.

Many thanks

Peej

Hello Peej. No Albert or Nina and only one stone for Dowson, here it is :-

In loving memory of Margaret Jane, the beloved daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane Dowson of Crook, who died January/8/1891 aged 20 years
Also the above Thomas Dowson, who died July/6/1901 age 57 years.

My first posting listing the surnames had "Lawson " and it should have been "Mawson". I have edited the list and substituted the correct name
Sorry that there are no Lawson gravestones.

Adam
