Many thanks again. I found my great grandparents in your Coates response.
I will take your advice and go through all the responses under this heading - and under your mailing for the Stanley MIs - which I notice includes some Stothards.

Hello Adam

I cannot find my great grandmother who is supposedly interred "Old Esh".  Where would that be?

She is "in memory of" on her daughter's headstone in Guisborough Cemetery, where it reads "also Hannah Fell (nee Bowes) ) beloved mother of the above who died Jan 1st 1907 aged 86 years.  Interred Old Esh"

She may not have had a headstone where she was eventually interred, and in any case she was Hannah Lawson, formerly Fell born Bowes.  But I don't know where to look.

Do you have anything for Hannah Lawson or Fell please?

Sorry I forgot to add she died in Ushaw Moor

Hello Ceeo. My work is for the area of Wear Valley. That is for communities based mainly either side of the river Wear in Upper Weardale.
This is about 10 miles from the area that you are enquiring about.
I am sure that other members will come forward and help you.
Here is a site that may also help and they have a contact on their web site.

Hello Paul. Just the one gravestone for Cundell:-

In loving remembrance of Michael Cundell of Dawson street, Crook, born April/30/1839, died February/29/1908.
Also Jane Ann, wife of the above, who died March/13/1922 aged 81 years.

Many thanks Adam ...
that fills in details of a long lost cousin :)

I was hoping it might be my 3xgt-grandfather William Cundell, who died in Crook in 1913. no such luck unfortunately.

Thanks again Adam ..

cheers ... Paul

Dear Adam,
I have a query on your message #130 re Walton MIs in Crook. You have 2 entries for Ellen Walton, but I think these are the same person.
You have a single grave for Ellen 1824-1894 of Temperance Terrace. This is definitely my gt gt grandmother and I have her death cert for the correct date 19 March 1894.
You also have a double grave for her + her husband, William. I was surprised to see him buried here as they were living in Esh when he died in 1872. Ellen is also shown as buried here with the same death date but 10 years earlier - 19 March 1884. I wondered if there had been a mis-transcription or whether I have a real mystery to solve!
Could you please check your notes for me?
Many thanks.
Chris
