Hi Suz,
Nice to hear from you - I wasn't sure if you'd remember our brief conversation, when we were chuckling over the entries in the Rowley Regis Parish Registers late that night.
I'll wait to hear your reply before I ask my next possible source.
Take care,
Paulene :)

Hi Greg,
My tree is well and truly super-glued on both important lines :'(
Never mind, one day something will turn up; and it's almost as good seeing other people's successes, and knowing you've been able to help. In fact, sometimes I thnk it's more rewarding!
Have you seen all the activity on the canal boat thread I brought to your attention? It's well worth your while watching that, as all sorts of new people are coming into rootschat with livng relatives, family tree links, etc. Some of it is bound to cross the border into other counties besides Staffordshire.
And, it looks as if  lots of information about canal life and networking is ther, too.
Brillian thread.
Bye for now - but keep in touch, Greg :)
Paulene :)
I shan't have to keep accosting all these Ilkeston men now to ask them if they know Bonsers! ::) ;D

Thanks Suz :)

Having started looking for where Crompton Street was in Hallam Fields, I've found this thread and can add that one of my uncles was married to a Bonser from Ilkeston and have included them in the family tree back to Thomas b abt 1817 who was a boatsman.  I think this is the same Thomas, with children Mary, Hannah, Ann, Thomas, John (the link) and Jane.

I have Thomas's wife as Mary (from Lambley) but it appears from this thread that he was married to Millicent?  The tree is available online at www.antill.org.uk and the Bonser link goes from Thomas (1817) to John (1858) then William (1888) if anyone wants to look at what we have so far (and possibly add or correct us)  :-X  The final link to Bonser is not online as they are connected to  living relatives, but can discuss further with PMs

Hi Mareanna
I am glad you found my post from what I can see of your tree it is the same Bonser family. Millicent was also called Mary. I am a descendant of Hannah who married Herbert Bradley. I have some info that you might like to have on the Bonser tree. :) I will get it ready for you soon.

Thanks
Greg

Hi, i have been reading this topic with great interest as my surname is Bonser and still live local to Ilkeston. My great grandfarther was Thomas H Bonser. I have a fairly extensive family tree from present day to Thomas and Millicent Bonser. I would love to hear from anyone willing to share information.
Regards
Barry

Hi Barry

Thomas and Millicent had a daughter Hannah who married Herbert Bradley They had a daughter Ada who married Joseph Henry Knight. They had a son William Lawson Knight he married Elizabeth Davenport. They had a daughter Margaret who married Duane Arnott. I am one of their children. So Thomas and Millicent are my Great Great Great Grandparents.
I would like to exchange information on what you have.
Ada and Joseph H Knight moved to Canada around 1909.

Greg

Hi Greg
Hannah was my great Aunt brother to Thomas H Bonser, his son Earnest Bonser was my Grandfarther. His son Eric Bonser was my Farther. So i guess that makes you my cousin 5 times removed.
EY UP MI DUCK (Hello my friend or loved one) Ilkeston dialect still used today.
Sorry but i am still new to this Ancestry research so how do we exchange information.
Regards
Barry
