Hi Woggle,
So glad you did join - welcome! Greg will be delighted to hear from you, as I am, too. Every time I've visited Ilkeston I've been asking if any Bonser's still live there.
Hope you do enjoy the site.
Happy Christmas,
Paulene :)

Hi Woggle

This is great I will send you a note with my e-mail address and we can exchange what info we have.

Paulene
It is good to hear from you again I am glad you are keeping in touch and thanks for the sites I will be looking at them soon.
I still have not got hold of Stephen to get a copy of the St. Mary's Parish reg. I have sent another e-mail but have not received a response. If anyone is out there that can get hold of one I will pay for the book and shipping and handling to Canada. I am sure I have a few relatives that are registered in that parish.

Greg

Hi Greg,
Lovely to hear from you, too. :)
I can't understand why Stephen isn't responding to your request for the CDs - and I don't think me telephoning him again is likely to do much good. Suz, if you're reading this can you ask your contacts at Heanor if they have any ideas of how we can get them to Greg, please. Short of one of us buying them for Greg and shipping them over ourselves I'm not sure what we can do. And. then we have to get them, too. Problem, isn't it!
Greg, don't forget to ask woggle if he has heard the nickname 'totty bonser' - does he know (if he has heard of it) why Thomas got the nickname?
What a wonderful surprise to hear from woggle!
Keep in touch,
Paulene :)

I've just read all the info about Millicent Plumb & her many names - Molicent, Milicent, Mary & surnames Boncall, Bonser, Breser.  You've done well to track all that down, & the names of all her daughters' husbands!

Dare I ask two things -

1.  Did you find her on 1851 Census - & if so what is her name?

2.  Did Greg get her Marriage Certificate, & if so was her father Samuel as expected (Rootsweb says Samuel's brother John also had a daughter Millicent Plumb in 1822, a year IGI does not cover for Lambley, so it is conceivable, though unlikely I expect, that she could be this other Millicent Plumb)?

This thread has worked really well!

Best wishes BH47

Hi BH47,
While we're waiting for Greg to pick up your message I'd like to say welcome to rootschat - hope you find it fun, as well as informative :)
I'm also interested to know how Greg is getting on - did you ever get those elusive parish register cds, Greg? ;D

Greg - We're missing you!
Take care,
Paulene :)

Hi BH47

I have had a lot of good luck doing this. I have not found her on the 1851 Census. She is married and I cannot find any of the family for that year. I have her marriage Certificate and her father is Samuel a laborer. She was married on December 12 1844 In Ilkeston. Do you fit in to this some how.

Hi Paulene good to hear from you again. No I have not got them, Stephen has not replied to any e-mails yet.

Greg

Hi Greg,
Lovely to hear from you - all those miles away!
I went to Ilkeston museum about a month ago, and saw the said gentleman there - but he, and the museum staff, were having lunch.
I resisted the temptatiion to bring it up with him (and the timing was totally wrong, too) - sometimes you know you're banging your head against a brick wall. If he didn't respond to me telephoning him (asking nicely on your behalf), it's unlikely he'd respond to me embarrassing him in front of the museum staff, is it.
We'll have to think of another way to get hold of them, Greg. Suz, who is involved with the Heanor and District Local History Society, said she might make some enquiries for you.
Shame, he seems (besides the matlock record office) to be the only source - unless anyone here knows otherwise!
So, pleased your living relative made contact - see wishes/prayers do come true!
Take care,
Paulene :)

Thank you Paulene for all your help.
I received from my new relative a picture of William Bonser in his Father Thomas Herbert's Canal Boat. It is a very good and clear picture. Since I have been on here last I have tracked down some leads that I was given and have expanded  Thomas's siblings side. Woggle has been very help full I hope to in the near future exchange some more information my family tree program is old and I am waiting to get my new one so I can transfer more info.
How is your tree coming?

Glad to hear from you I think I will have to use this site more and ask a lot more questions the people on here are great.

Take care
Greg
