Long shot marriage lookup request.
« on: Saturday 02 August 08 22:58 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have hit a solid brick wall with this.

Elinor (Eleanor?) PARRATT or PARROTT was the daughter of William and Mary PARRATT.  She married an unknown TAYLOR at an unknown location.

I do not know the origin or birthplace of William and Mary except that Mary had a spinster sister called Elinor (sic) KENNERLEY who lived in the parish of St Andrew, Holborn, Middlesex.

So, there could be a family link with London.  What I am really trying to find is a marriage sometime about 1720 - 1745 between:-

Elinor (Eleanor) PARRATT (or similar) and an unknown TAYLOR.

I have seen the one on the IGI (lLesly TAYLOR).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Nick

I did find a marriage of Mary Kinnerley to William Parrot on the 28 January 1696 both of Bunbury [Banbury] Cheshire in the IGI, File no 170605 Ref no 18754. there are three entries.

I don't know whether this will be of any use to you, or if you already have it.

Good luck

Perhaps further explanation would help now that I have managed to confirm a few details around this family.

I believe William PARROTT and Mary (nee KENNERLEY) to have been my 7 x Great Grandparents.  I also believe that the marriage at Bunbury in Cheshire is theirs.

I have Mary's Will written in 1754 when she was resident near Middlewich in Cheshire.  The Will was proved in 1761 and indicates that she was at the time of her death living in Holborn, London.  Her spinster sister Elinor (sic) KENNERLEY is also living in Holborn and there is also an inference that her married daughter Mary DUDDELL is also in the same area.  She was married to John DUDDELL (I have applied for a will which I believe to be his).

My family name is TAYLOR and I had always assumed that the first connection between the TAYLORs and the PARROTTs came in 1796 with the marriage of Thomas TAYLOR and Elizabeth PARROTT (Great granddaughter of William and Mary).  However, I can see from Mary's Will that she names one of her daughters as a beneficiary and her name is Elinor (sic) TAYLOR.

I now suspect that Thomas TAYLOR is a descendant of Elinor, probably grandson, and therefore Thomas TAYLOR and Elizabeth PARROTT were, in all probability, second cousins.

Thomas TAYLOR (born c1773, outside Cheshire) is as far back as I have got with my Family name, so you can understand that if I can prove a link between Elinor and Thomas it will take my research back another 2 generations and to a time that will be quite satisfying for such a common name as mine!!

Could Elinor TAYLOR also have been resident in the Holborn, London area following her marriage to a currently unknown TAYLOR?  I really do need to find this marriage to proceed.  Incidentally I think I have the DUDDELL marriage already.

Thanks,

Nick TAYLOR

Nick

I'm glad my previous posts on other websites have helped some folks!  That was my posting that led to the clues.

I'm D. R. Kenerley, my Kennerley family (obviously) dropped the extra "n" during the 1800's but we've discovered some great connections thru DNA testing.  Perhaps you can help me contact any Kennerly's that you may know who can definitely trace their lineage back in the Cheshire area to the 1600/1700's.  We're offering a free (yes) test to those who can have documents because we (in the US) are trying to prove we are from Cheshire.  Some of the Kennerly clan believe we are Irish ... but that doesn't appear to be so, given the name distribution especially in the 1600/1700's.

Our project website is here:  http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Kenerley/default.aspx

My email is on that site or contact me directly at:
(*)

We believe that several members of the Kennerly family immigrated to the US in the late 1600's and early 1700's but in absent of actual documents, we'd like a chance to prove it.  So, please do forward our request to any Kennerly's that you know.

Thanks!
D. R. Kenerley
