Pettaugh Parish Records - SHARMAN/SHERMAN pre-1760
« on: Friday 01 August 08 09:59 BST (UK) »
Could I please request a lookup through these records again for the SHARMAN (sometimes spelt SHERMAN) family?

I am looking for any records relating to SAMUEL b. c1750, who married an Elizabeth probably some time between 1770-1779.  A baptism record for Samuel would be great if it can be located, as well as any of his siblings. The family seem to be very definitely from Pettaugh, so hopefully the records will be there!

Thank you so much  :)

Hi

I checked the Pettaugh records but could not find mention of a Samuel Sherman (+ variants) at all.

There was a marriage of a Thomas Sherman to an Elizabeth Thorpe on 3 July 1781, but no baptisms or marriages for Samuel.  Sorry.

Best wishes
Anne

Hi Anne,

Thanks very much for looking, I feel a trip to the records office in Ipswich may be on the cards to trace where Samuel came from!  I know from a previous lookup that his children were all baptised at Pettaugh, so perhaps a search through records for Gosbeck and Earl Stonham will turn something up.

Many thanks again, I'm very grateful for your time.
