Would any kind soul be able to look up a death on or around 30 Jan 1843 for a Robert Gray.  Place of death Mildenhall (possibly West Row).

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Sorry - it's not possible to lookup death entries - you would need to buy a copy of the death cert

Have you checked freebmd for the GRO ref - I've shown it below

Deaths March quarter 1843

GRAY  Robert    Mildenhall  Volume 13 Page 322

I have checked the Suffolk Sudden deaths index as well as the Suffolk Burial Index but I'm afraid that there is not an entry for Robert GRAY around 1843.

I think that you will have to follow Carole's advice and check out FreeBMD or go through the GRO indexes.

Sorry

Rick :)

Dear Carole and Rick

Thanks very much for the very, very speedy help!  I have the death cert - death by accidental shooting (death cert signed off by the coroner in Bury St Edmunds).  Have not been able to find any details of coroner's inquest or any newspaper references and was hoping the Suffolk Sudden Death index could perhaps help give (any) additional insights.

Kind regards

Grayaust

The index only includes sudden deaths in the Liberty of St Etheldreda which doesn't cover Bury St Edmunds I'm afraid. :(

The Suffolk Record Office may be able to help.
