FRY Family - Lacock, Wiltshire

I have a number of branches in my tree some close to Chippenham and Lacock......

1.   Castle Combe:   the earliest is Henry Fry born about 1630 and died 29 Apr 1675.   He married Joanne Brewer 24 Feb 1655 in Castle Combe.   This family continued to live in Castle Combe and surrounding areas including a later branch in Tormarton.

2.   Hullavington:   descendants of Isaac Fry, 1819 - 96.   He married 16 Sep 1841 Mary Sherwood, 1818 - 98 of Sherston Magna.   Once again in the north Wiltshire area.

3.   Different branch in Porlock, Somerset:   descendants of John Fry, 1749 who married 26 Oct 1776 Mary Taylor, born 15 Mar 1755.

They may ring a bell with someone.   All have the common belief that they are in some way related to the 'choco' Frys

Hi Martin,

I am looking for Frys in Somerset.  We have a Sarah Fry (b.1762 in Wells) m George Kitching (the younger) b.1758 in St Cuthbert, Wells.  Her parents were Stephan Fry (b.1733) and Johanna Fussell. My interest is in the Kitching family.  The family chat has it that the Frys are related to the Frys chocolate family but I can not find a link.

Does your pedigree relate to this branch of Frys?

Just for interest sake JOSEPH STORRS FRY founder of Fry, Vaughan and Co Chocolate Factory had his home, as he was a storekeeper in the village of Sutton Benger which is 5 miles East of Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Sarah: b. 1732.
Stephan: b.1733 d.1816.  Married: Johanna Fussell
Ann: b.1737.  Married William Wilkins- 5 Apr 1768

I have Sarah Fry b Brinkworth 7.3.1748 marrying an Edward London in 1777. Her mother and father were Richard and Elizabeth.
