Was wondering if anyone could tell me if this ancestral place "Quivvy Island" is in fact an island. I'm told by an Irish friend it could be an inlet not an island. It was supposed to originally have had a school & 2 churches on the "island", I can find reference to Quivvy Marina and Lough (which i know is a lake) & to Quivvy Church but there is no reference to be found on the Net for the actual "island".
thanks
Debra

thank you for the web link, pleased to see it mentions "island" but it must be very small because it doesn't show on any maps. Beautiful church, they've done a lovely job of restoring it too.
regards
Debra

Hi Debra,
Have you contacted the people at Quivvy Marine? I'm inclined to think that they'd be well informed.

The Counties of Fermanagh and Cavan have been subject to extensive drainage works by Government over the past 90 years. What may have been an island at one time may not be an island now....
