Hi,

The Marnhull page on www.opcdorset.com has various censuses and the Stour Provost page has 1851/1861 censuses.

I don't have access to a general census website. :(

Hey Daniel, sorry to be so long, I went walkabout chasing your Warren Mob of Todber, Dorset. I have no doubt that the Warrens in the area were all related, they breed like Rabbits even today.

I have a few items that might interest you; James, the father of George Warren was born 1807. His son George was married to Louisa and she was a woman of Stalbridge where they may have married c1874.  Their children were Eliza b 1875, Seymour b 1877, Alfred Born 1880.

The whole family were living together in 1881all except for Hester Drew/Trew Warren who had died. Both names, Trew and the more likely "Drew" were common around Marnhull. James was born at Stour Provost and he married Hester on the 31st of December 1832. Regarding Enos Warren, he married Caroline c1864/5 and they had children Henry b 1867 Eva  b 1669, Emily b1871 and Walter born 1877.

Todber, Dorset appears to be the home town with Stour Provost and Stalbridge aslo having a part. I could not find anything for Enos's brother James except a birth 1842. Hope that helps a little, I think that there is a possibility that Louisa was of the Hook/Restorick family of Colyton in Devon but of that I am unsure, I know that others of that family were living in Dorset. My suggestion is that you have someone look up Stour Provost because that is where George came from and I have a thought that Louisa [born 1846/7/8 might be registered there because she is not registered at Stalbridge in the years mentioned. The Marriage date for George Warren and Louisa Hooke Restorick was 1/4/1867 and that year fits in with the Children's births. Louisa also had a brother Alfred and her mother was Elizabeth. I could not find a Seymour Restorick so that must have been a name George and Louisa threw in to bung up the works. Go not forget to try alternative spellings.
That is all I can find at the moment so have a go at that and see idf any of it fits in. ::)

:o Hey Daniel, I hope I have not taken you back further than myself now, your lot were worse than mine for breeding, especially James' grandfather. James' father was Henry and his mother was Alice Wordford. They were married on the 29th of May 1807 by Banns.

Now it looks like you have a little Glitch in the Warren Works in Stour Provost, Henry appears to have been born out of Wedlock [Base born] on 22nd of April 1787 to Sarah Warren, daughter of Henry and Susannah Mary Anne Warren.

They in turn were prolific breeders and had ten children of which nine survived past the age of one year. The children were Sarah b 1764, Martha 1766, Ann 1768, William 1770, Robert 1772, John 1774, George 1776, George 1777, Matthew 1778, and Susannah 1781.

Henry and Susannah were married in 1764 on the 7th of February and Henry was born in 1732 to John Warren [wife not registered] but I suspect that it is Sarah of Marnhull.

The father of Henry [married Susannah Mary Ann] was John Warren [wife was Sarah as far as I am concerned] and they married about 1736. This is as far as I can take you, my neck is starting to hurt. My thoughts are that your John and Sarah were both from Marnhull [Sarah certainly was for she is recorded as being from there in the parish records for Stour Provost]

It is there that you probably join in with the other Marnhull Warrens, that date back to the first John of Marnhull that I know and he was John Warren Born 1617 at Ashburton in Devon. Although this is not absolutely proven, it does seem like the Warrens came from that area into Dorset.

Most of my lot in Marnhull were Parish Clerks combined with a day jpb as stone masons. John and Christopher were names used within our Warrens over and over again and the fact that you have several Johns in your lot may pull them in with mine at Marnhull.

I have since discovered that your John was probably born at or near Swanage [Dorset] in 1701. He married Sarah Hayward at that place in 1730 and I am only able to find William Born to them in 1736 and Henry born 1737 at this moment. It  appears that most of the Warrens in the district were related anyway. I hope this assists you in your search. I also wonder if this John [married Sarah] was not the son of John and Ruth Warren in c1690, they had several children and perhaps John was born of them.

I to am trying to trace the Warren Family in Swanage Dorset. My line is James Warren born abt 1731, son of John Warren and Mary Hayward, who married Elizabeth Smedmore. Dont have any information on the Warren, Hayward or Smedmore family. So I to am stuck at John born abt 1701 Swanage. Just started my search last week so if you find a connection I,d be pleased to share anything I can to help.

Hi

I'm new to Roots.chat but I found you have names on your information that I also have in my family tree.

These are George Warren who married Louisa Hooke Restorick.   George was my 3 x Great Grandfather.   I have a photograph of him with his first wife Lucy.   I don't have much info on Louisa, I have lots on George.
I would like to share info if you are interested.

Regards

Nicola
