Many thanks for your help - I'll look into getting a subscription for the Essex Records Online to follow it up further but it looks like the right family. I got the original info from a tree on Ancestry - date was 2 months out but the census records I have also confirmed Chipping Hill.

If chrislb is still around, please get in touch - I don't recognise the name Gregory Harris but we should compare notes to see if we can help one another.

Hi Elliot2,

The Essex Harris's (Gregory, et al) are,as far as I have been able to find out, from Hatfield Peveral, at least Gregory's children were all born there.  Gregory I have so far been unable to trace, apart from, of course his marriage and death and where he lived... no baptism so far.. I shall double check my records though!!
