Mary Jane PERRETT
« on: Thursday 24 July 08 19:48 BST (UK) »
I found the Baptism in the Fonthill Bishop Parish Records of Mary Jane PERRETT, on 05 Aug. 1821, FA: John PERRETT; MO: Ann [MASTERS] PERRETT; . I have not been successfull in locating her Death or Marriage or a Census Listing. Would some one be so kind as to suggest something, please?

The problem is, is where to start because, as you know, there are so many variables.   In 1851, her father, John (a shoemaker), appears to be widowed and living in Fonthill Bishop with Sarah Snook and children.   There is no mention of Mary Jane Perrett in Wiltshire in 1851 but she could have married or died before that date or moved out of the county.

Have you checked the Fonthill parish records for deaths or marriages?

There appears to be no record of Mary Jane on freeBMD between 1837 and 1851, apart from possible marriage and/or death in Pewsey district, and then with a different spelling.

If she moved away from Fonthill Bishop before 1837 her marriage or death record could be anywhere and difficult to locate.

Sorry to be so negative, Dave

I have found an 1841 census record that shows;

Ann Perrett, aged 60, Independent means, born in county
Thomas Perrett, 30, Carpenter, born in county
Mary Perrett, 20, Female Servant, born in county
Richard Perrett, 15, Ag Lab, born in county
Bridget Miles, 3, born in county

All living in High Street, Erle Stoke, Wiltshire

HO107/Piece 1182/Civil Parish - Erle Stoke/Enumeration District 1/Page 11

Could this be her?

For some strange reason I was unable to find a baptism for Mary Jane Perrett or Perrott in Fonthill Bishop or Fonthill Gifford.   There were the following baptisms around the time in Fonthill Bishop............

16 Jul 1820 Eliza illegitimate dau of Elizabeth Perrett, otp
29 Apr 1821 Mary Ann dau of William and Mary Ann Perrett, lab, otp

Also a burial in Fonthill Bishop 19 Jul 1835 Jane Perrett, age 1 (she was not baptised in Font B)

Cheers Dave
