Grave of Sarah Behan
« on: Monday 21 July 08 23:29 BST (UK) »
Trying to find the grave of Sarah Behan. Her parents were John and Marcella (nee O'Brien). They were married in 1907 and they are buried in Kilmeague cemetery. Sarah died in England in April '88 and was brought home to Ireland to be buried. There is no record of where she was buried only assuming maybe would it be with her parents. Any help please would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried contacting the cemetery or the council if they are in charge?

Assume it might be in relation to this query:

I see from the messages posted that suggestions were already made about finding the information.

aghadowey, thanks for your reply. Yes every avenue has been tried. Hoping now that somebody out there may remember this happening. 20 years is not that long ago really.

Has everything been tried or are you just assuming it has been? In early July several suggestions were made as to sources to contact for more information so I'm not sure what more you hope to find here.

I only came on this site last night after a poster on another site made me aware of it. Now I just heard the story on the radio and thought if I could help out atall so hence these posts. I have mailed a lady in England who is involved in it and told her of the various sites I have put it on so no doubt she will be checking it out. Now she did give the indication that councils etc had been checked. You did mention contacting the cemetery, I presume it would be the local Priest but i feel all this has been done. I am waiting to hear from the lady concerned.

If, and I do mean if, the local council and church have no record of this person being buried with her parents then it's possible that she was actually buried somewhere else in Ireland- with a sibling for example- and not with the parents.

Would there be any possibility of tracing this query through a travel route. Surely there are strict regulations and records for transporting coffins for burial from one country to another.
Also: Records of Co Council permission application to take body from country / records of who the body was released to from Hospital ward - morgue or County morgue - Funeral home/stating destination.

From what I can make out they have tried any records they could possibly try.
