In my family from Glen of Coachford, I do have
BREMNER/DUNCAN/STABLES/MICHIE/FORSYTH

I have been searching for years for the actual birthfather of my ggrandmother Ann FORSYTH who was born in 1849 and baptised in 1850.
Her parents were Jane DUNCAN ( who never married), and James FORSYTH. It stated on Ann FORSYTH's marriage cert. to James McDONALD STABLES that James FORSYTH was a Crofter. On the marriage cert. in 1882 in Cairney, it doesn't state that James FORSYTH is deceased.
Jane DUNCAN had another illegitimate child, George MICHIE in 1840 by a James MICHIE. Both of these men were supposedly Crofters and she was a servant on their Crofts.
Interestingly enough, although it could be two different MICHIES, but:
James MICHIES, of New Biggin, having an illegitimate son, George MICHIE bapt. Oct. 30, 1841 in Towie,( mine to Jane DUNCAN) and
James MICHIE, Mill of Towie & wife Isabel Skene had a daughter Margaret bapt. Oct.4, 1841.
  Conincidence, or same James MICHIE??
  Does anyone have this family.
My Jane DUNCAN was the daughter of John DUNCAN and Mary BREMNER both, Glen of Coachford, Cairney.

Hi,
Is MICHIE not a member of the Macdonald 'clan'?  I am sure that the actor on Taggart just did a program on the MICHIE family and designed a new tartan for them.  Something to do with a murder, so he changed his name to MICHIE from Macdonald.  Maybe someone else will know the facts, but as far as I am aware that is roughly the story.

James and Margaret Pirie (nee Ogg) also had six daughters:-

v.Jessie who was married to a William Sandison and appears to have had two sons named Alexander Davidson and James Davidson; and.
