I know Shelly has looked  at Passenger Lists   and I just spent an hour looking at EVERY (I think) Edward Burn  born mid 1860's coming into NYC, Boston .      Canadian Border crossings won't be found for this period I don't think... at least I didn't see one.    He could be there but if he is on his own, we don't know anything about any of his family (parents, siblings)  and his dates aren''t accurate, hard to pick him out.

Shelly, I'm going to go look at that tree....

Gold Stars, Shelly!!!

When will I ever learn to look for trees 1st!!

Interesting that site is owned by a Gail, however!

On Gail's other post --  on the Down board   ----   don't know why I thought/said Scotland, duh ???  she said she didn't know Mary's maiden name......so maybe Shelly's find is real progress for her!

What a coincidence in 2 Gails reseaching this family....

Gold Stars, Shelly!!!

LissaM: I agree. Shelly is always far ahead of everybody. Her finds relative to mine are, if I may quote Shakespeare, "as a Hyperion to a satyr"....but...but...but...could I have a star too?  :-[ :-[ :-[ I don't have one and....I can't become a Rootschat Marquessate because the U.S. constitution does not allow for titles of nobility.  :'( :'( :'( Girls have all the fun....

Groveller that I am, I humbly accept. But now I feel myself wanting to quote Oliver Twist. You what he said, don't you? "May I please have more." Proves he was on a power trip..... :D  ;) :D ;) :D

Lissa, I think you may have found a different tree than I did, so you deserve extra stars for that one.  With 9 children, there may be a good number of descendants out and a few may be working on this family tree.

Let's hope we didn't scare Gail away with our nutty obsessiveness.   ;D

I just found a tree that lists Simon Burns and Katherine Murphy as Edward's parents.  There's a cause of death given, time of death, residence at time of death, and burial at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Rockville, so sounds like the tree owner may have Edward's death certificate.  It gives his date of birth as 27 Jan 1864.  If you'd like, Gail, I could try to contact the person through Ancestry's system.

As someone who aspires to catch even a glimpse of you speeding along the road of genealogical discovery, I would say that it is thoroughness rather than obsessiveness. Sounds better, at least. I notice, incidentally, that you're always finding obits. How do you dig them up?
