1901 Census Look-Up, please (completed, thank you)
« on: Saturday 19 July 08 15:43 BST (UK) »
Hi.  Would someone be kind enough to look up

Rebecca CRACOWSKI on the 1901 Census and let me know if a spouse's name is mentioned and what her occupation is given as.  Also, Leah CRACOWSKI - are any parents names given? Are they living in Canal Road?

Many thanks, very much appreciated.

A thousand "thank yous" ... so very much appreciated.  I hadn't realised that they'd come to this country as early as 1891.

I wonder if this is another child which would discount my theory that Jacob died pre 1901

I don't think he is a direction relation - my gt-grandmother died in Sept 1908 and according to the death certificate, she'd been seriously ill for two years.

Thanks for the info though, there aren't many Cracowskis around .... I found my grandmother's birth registered under Krakofsky!

Hi,
Rebecca Cracowski's son Barnet Krakofsy was my children's ggfather he had a son called Joseph Krakofsky who changed his name to Bennett in 1945!
His son Brian my kids dad, told me that the krakofsky's changed their names to Barnet and Bennett I can't remember the other one.
Do you know of this family I've been stuck on the Krakofsky's for some time this thread has really enlightened me.
Thank you
Ladylil

Hi.  I've pm'd you my email address.  Rebecca Cracowski had quite a few children, one of  whom was called Barnet and another called Annie (my grandmother).  Interestingly, Annie's birth was recorded under the name of Krakofsky, so it looks like there could be a link.

Bingo!! It seems that I've just struck very lucky...
Joseph Bennett/Krakowsky was my uncle - my aunt Rose was his wife.
I've just started researching my family history, after years of being out of touch with Brian, my cousin. I would dearly love to get back in touch with him (he's just four years older than me, so I'm really hoping that he's still around..). Can you help, please? I've searched in vain thus far.
To return to Joe:
I was told by my mother that Joe's family originated in Latvia, but your research suggests that this wasn't the case. I also know that he was for awhile an active a member of the Communist Party.
I lost touch with Joe after my aunt's sudden death (due to a brain haemorrhage) in Hastings, where I recall staying with them at Netherwood with my parents. I have some images of the house.
I'm also aware of the Kendall connection, having worked myself for Ilford Limited when I left school.
