thankyou for all your comments have phoned ancestry and have got my membership for £66.79 with a 20% discount so it is worth phoning if you are quoted  £95 hope this helps anyone else who was in my position

They want £83.20 from me when my sub is up on August 3rd but they will not be getting it as I have set my account to automatically cancel and I will see if they send me a discount deal via email as there seems to be a suggestion that they will do this to try and get you back. I can't be arsed phoning them up as I had to go through that last year and the lady while friendly was quite hard work as she couldn't grasp what I was saying. I did get a reduction in the end but it paines me that you have to go down this route in the first place and it annoys me even more that people on the same subs are paying differing amounts.

hi Alan i know what you mean why can't ancestry just charge everyone the £66 or give you the 20% discount when you automatically renew like another site does it is worth the hassle though i was on it for about 7 hours last night lol and found some new rellies
