Henry Smith Marriage query
« on: Wednesday 16 July 08 22:29 BST (UK) »
Hi People

I was looking on familysearch.org and found a possible marriage for my ancestor within thurmaston..
So I duly clicked on the link to find the following alarming name!!

Henry Smith /Elizabeth Fucks March 31st 1755 Thurmaston

I checked the thurmaston records and I cant find these pair...
Can anybody help as I am not convinced, especially  by her name

All the best

Darryl

Hi just a quick update
I went to the Records office today and I did not find a record for these pair under the Thurmaston,Barkby,Belgrave & Humberstone parishes, although on familysearch it states there is a record..
I will keep this on the backburner for now....

Kind regards

Darryl

Hi Darryl, Great to find someone with the same problem on Henry Smith 1730 ? Thurmaston and wife Elizabeth {last name on IGI is rude as you found} He is my 5th great grandfather they had 8 sons and 3 daughters. one son, John Smith 1761-1846 who married Mary Harris 1761-1841 is my link from Henry.
We were told that their were only 2 main smith family's in Thurmaston for 200 years.
One being Henry/Elizabeth, the other was William/Sarah price, both of these families had sons called John Smith both born in the same year died different dates.
My John was married to Mary Harris as I have said, and the other John Smith 1761-1829 married Ann Ilston 1762-1797.

Where is your link to this family and have you had any other information since 2008 Elizabeth  F----s question.

Bye for now
Ann {in Somerset UK}

this site:

http://leicestershireparishrecords.blogspot.com/2010/05/phillimores-marriages-thurmaston-1719.html

has thurmaston marriages from the Phillimore volumes. however 1755 is missing apparantly - vol 1 goes up to 1754 and vol 2 starts 1756! may be worth looking for other family members though.
