Hi Graham,

First of all Graham I could not find Walter Gibson Kendall's birth or burial in either St Wulframs or St Johns parish records  BUT I did find the following.

St Johns parish records Reel 893 Sect.1/1 Page 78

18/Nov/1855
George Kendall  Parents  John George & Mary Kendall  Abode Norton St,Trade Mechanic.

St Johns Parish records Reel 893 Sect 1/4

Page 43   12/Jul/1882
Walter Vincent Kendall  Parents William Vincent & Mary Ann Kendall Abode  13 Cecil Street Trade Clerk

Page 44    12/Jul/1882
Herbert William Kendall Abode 13 Cecil Street  Trade  Clerk.

I checked on the 1861 census for Back Street as I had never heard of it before but found it on RG9/2351  Folio 83-94 Pages 1-26 which is where Joseph/Charlotte and William Kendall was living. At the beginning of the census the enumerator had written.Part of London Road commencing at Blue Horse Inn/Back Street both sides/Bridge End Road/Toll Bar each side/Witham Place/Spittlegate Cottages/Boyle's Farm & Johnsons House.I could only remember Inner Street between the Blue Horse Inn and Bridge End Road so I checked with our local historian Malcolm Knapp and he confirmed that it was the old name of Inner Street.(Which incidentally that is where my Granddad and my dad and my husbands as well lived in the early 90s).

and Graham Garden Cottages was in the Welby Street area between Hands Yard Welby street and Stanton Street.

Cheers

Kathy

Many thanks Kathy for all your research.  I have no idea who these Norton St Kendalls could be unless it is the John Kendall the publican's son maybe,
I will look on the Census next week to see if he George has a sister Sarah, who was the mother to be of Jack Clarke. Norton St.  I also found a Charlotte Kendall born in Grantham who had a fancy goods shop in Wharf Rd, but I never seemed to find out who she was.
Anway thanks again
Graham

Thank you Kathy for these entries.  The Kendalls are definately mine but the Morleys not.   I knew there had been a girl born to Wm Vincent and Mary Ann but did not know the name. I had been told by Tankerville that twin girls (his sisters) were thrown from a trap.  Perhaps one survived to be baptised but they did not live.  Very good of you Kathy.
