Hi there,

I usually claim any Locktons in Grantham, on the ground that they are usually mine  ;D

I don't have this Henry in my database, though.

Charles Lockton married a Martha unknown, though. I have them in the 1861 census but she never appears again in any census after that. I wonder if she could be Henry's mother after she left her husband. In the 1861 census the Locktons were living next door to a family of Wrights???

I addition, I do know that plenty of Locktons from Grantham went to Australia. Worth a try? Can't seem to find any of these in the 1901. They could have all died, of course.

I'd love to find mnore!

Locktons can be found on http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tiber/

Linda

Charles Lockton married a Martha unknown,

Perhaps ...

Marriages Jun 1851
Gore    Ann        Grantham    14   662
Lancaster    Hannah         Grantham    14   662
Lane    John         Grantham    14   662
LOCKTON    Charles         Grantham    14   662
Matkin    John Shaw Hall         Grantham    14   662
Sandall    Isaac         Grantham    14   662
WAUDBY Martha         Grantham    14   662
Weatherall    Elizabeth         Grantham    14   662

It looks possible - Chas and Martha LOCKTON are next door to WAUDBYs in 1861.

EDIT:  Ooh!  Henry's middle name (at marriage) was Murr - the LOCKTONs were lodging with MURRs in 1861!
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Hi Linda,

I think that Charles wife Martha is Henry (Harry's) mum. I can't be sure if Charles is Henry's father.

Martha is on the 1871 census with son Henry and she is listed as married.

On the 1891 (and i think 1881) census Martha is a housekeeper for George Wright.

I have found a possible death for Rebecca Lockton 1906 in Scucoates. I can't seem to find any more information about henry (harry).

I just can't understand why I can't find Rebecca on the 1901 census. She was Living in Lincolnshire on the 1891 census and she died 1906 Scunthorpe.

Kelly.  :)

Edited to add: Thank you for the website Link Linda, i will go and have a look.

According to Freereg: Charles Lockton married Martha Waudby 21 April 1851.

Grooms father: Robert Lockton (Yeoman)
Brides father: George Waudby (Builder)

The two witnesses were Robert catlin and Ellen Taylor.

Twins?

Births Mar 1866
LOCKTON    Frances         Grantham    7a   450
LOCKTON    Harry M         Grantham    7a   450

Was this Charles' passing?

Deaths Mar 1925
LOCKTON    Charles    95    Grantham    7a   594

I wonder what the link with Sheffield was?  A Charles LOCKTON (58 in 1871 in Grantham) was buried in Sheffield in late 1872 aged 60.

Ooh! I didn't notice the frances birth, that is intresting.

I've been wondering what the link with Sheffield is as well! Emma was born 1890 Sheffield but living in Lincs in 1891 with Rebecca. Harry was living in Yorkshire 1891!
