Michael Henry and Maria Ruane
« on: Monday 14 July 08 21:34 BST (UK) »
December 29, 1874 is the date that Michael Henry (Orlar) married Maria Ruane (Carabeg).

I also have a Thomas Ruane married to a Bridget Henry on the same date and they were from the same places.  I am suspecting that Michael and Maria are my great great grandparents.  How do I best go about verifying this information that I got from East Mayo. org ????

Irish birth certificates list names of both parents (unless child is illegitimate). Your great-grandparent's birth certificate should show whether or not Michael and Maria are the parents.

I think you misunderstood my post.  Thomas Ruane and Maria Ruane appear to be brother and sister as do Michael Henry and Bridget Henry.  They are brothers and sisters that got married on the same day.  Maria married Michael and Thomas married Bridget.  I am trying to veryify that this is the case which would mean that Michael and Maria are my great great grandparents and Thomas and Bridget are my great great grand aunt and uncle.

The reason I misunderstood your post was that you said: "I am suspecting that Michael and Maria are my great great grandparents.  How do I best go about verifying this information that I got from East Mayo. org?"

If you are try to find out whether Thomas Ruane and Maria Ruane are siblings and Michael Henry and Bridget Henry are siblings each of the marriage certificates should list their fathers' names and occupations which would be a start. However, civil marriage certificates do not list the mothers' names.

I just recently received an e-mail from someone in Kilkelly.  The information states that my great great grandfather was Michael Henry born February 28, 1856. His father was Henry Henry (Henery) and mother was Maria Duffy.

My great great grandmother was Maria Ruane and she had the following siblings:  Catherine (1841), Thomas (1848), Joanne (1854), Patrick (1855), Michael (1856), Ann (1859), and Patrick (1861).

Apparently, Maria Ruane was born to Michael Ruane and a Kate Kearns.  I need to find out if all of this fits into my tree.  What is the best way to verify all of this???

All of the information you've been given is pre-civil registration of births so it looks as though the information might have come from the local church records. Can you email and ask the source? If you get the name of the church you could check LDS online catalogue (www.familysearch.org) and see if they've microfilmed those records.

I may have some information that might help us both with research into the offspring of the couple emboldened below.
