Morgan White Dublin, Ireland
« on: Sunday 13 July 08 16:12 BST (UK) »
Recently I found the obit I believe is for my g-g grandmother, Elizabeth White.  Prior to this I only had my g-g grandfathers name Morgan White, which was listed on the marriage certificate of my g-grandfather Richard White.

The obit is as follows:

White - March 8, at 7 Sydney terrace, Blackrock, Elizabeth White, age 69, relict of the late Morgan White, of Newtown Park, Co. Dublin.  The remains will leave the above address at 1 o'clock this day (Monday) for Stillorgan. "Thy will be done"  (Irish Times March 11, 1895 pg 1)

Other than sending for her death certificate what other information can follow up from this?  Their religion was Church of Ireland.

In the same paper the following year, March 20, 1896 there was a law notice regarding the estate of Morgan White.  Would this mean that he died shortly before Elizabeth?  How long after the death is it before the estate is settled?

Thanks!

Death certificate will give you cause of death but not much else than obituary. Parents, spouses, birthdate are not on death certificates.

It could be that Morgan White died shortly before his wife or that his estate was never probated and after she died things were finally getting sorted out.

Have you tried searching for an obituary for Morgan White?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I searched the Irish Times for an obit for Morgan White but came up empty handed.

Mary ...where did you find this information?  Morgan and Elizabeth's first son Richard states on the 1901 and 1911 census that he was born in Co. Wicklow.  Sure makes it possible that the marriage you found could be the correct one.

Thank you so much for both of your help!

Mary,

I forgot to mention that I am also researching Quigley.  Mine are from Abbeyknockmoy, Galway.
