Ronald Leslie Weller, emigrated mid 1950's.
« on: Saturday 12 July 08 08:54 BST (UK) »
Trying to trace what happened to Ronald Leslie Weller after he emigrated to Canada in the mid 1950's. Ronald was born in April 1906. Parents: George Frederick Weller & Gertrude Katherine Weller (no maiden name, I'm afraid) In England Ronald had been a business man with properties in the cinema field. A  listing exists showing that a Ronald Leslie Weller, born 1907, left from Manchester in 1954 and arrived in Saint John NB (New Brunswick?). I am trying to find out what happened to Ronald after his arrival in Canada. At this time Ronald was a divorcee so maybe he remarried (?). Any information would be gratefully received.

There are approximately 25 R. Weller's listed across Canada. It may be worth it to write to them to see which ones may be related.

Although he arrived in New Brunswick, he may not have stayed there. The original manifest might tell you where he was planning on staying. It might also say with whom.

The passenger list referred to in the opening post indicates Ronald was a consultant engineer. The Canadian voters lists database at Ancestry has a listing from 1958 for a Ronald Weller, engineer at 108 Alexander Street in the St Paul's electoral district and in 1962 in apt 103-110 Maitland Street in the Rosedale electoral district. There was a Pearl Weller listed at the same address. They are at the same Rosedale address in 1968. Both districts are in Toronto.

Marriage and death registrations from that time period are protected by Ontario privacy laws so I can't say with any certainty that is the correct Ronald but it is a start.

This was a Ronald from Toronto, both he and wife were British...and imm. 1951 but middle initials don't match yours, so likely just coincidence... http://www.canadianheadstones.com/on/cemetery.php?cemID=504&pg=14
