Hi Indigogirl,
I’ve suspected for some time that you and I were going to end up looking for the same family – I watched your Edward Edwards thread for a while……in fact I’ve just checked and I have it printed off on my desk….because of uncle George Shepherd.
Just to clarify, my great,great grandmother, Sarah Shepherd (b.1810, Brotherton) married William Wild (b.1806, Knottingley) and had 9 children, of which only 4 survived into adulthood, including my great grandfather James Wild (b. 1847, Knottingley).
This may be good news for you, but I have the St Edward, Brotherton Baptism Indexes for the period 1748-1895 and am also puzzling my way through the Shepherd families.
I have come to the conclusion that there were at least 2 separate William & Sarah Shepherds in Brotherton, both having children and, luckily, overlapping at times. (This is the only way I could distinguish between some of them!) I’ll list what I have and you’ll see what I mean…….

)
Well I think that's enough for one posting! Let me know if you'd like anything looking up in the indexes.
I think this one might need a look at the original records to see if anything further is given so that we can sort them out. What do you think??
Sally
