Conway family history
« on: Thursday 10 July 08 06:55 BST (UK) »
Hi there, have been trying to put together a family tree for my new son and am wondering if anyone can help with details of my maternal grandmothers family. I am new to this and not sure exactly what information is needed but will try to give as much as possible. My grandmothers name was Patricia Conway b:28th nov 1923, her parents were Charles conway b: 14 nov 1903 and Mary Horn b:  13 March 1905.  Anything further that could be found out would be greatly appreciated - thankyou
Andrea

Hello Andrea

Have downloaded the marriage entry for Charles and Mary.  They married on 13 Sept  1923.

He was 19 she - 18.  He was a shipwright and she a Shirt maker.  Both single -

Parents.Patrick Conway a Stone cutter and Mary Catherine Conway (Ms McEvoy)

Thomas Horn, Shipyard labourer and Elizabeth Horn (MS McCusken?).  All parents alive.

By far the tidiest and neatest entry - with even the home addresses of the witnesses on it.

Shall send you a pm about how to go about research in Scotland.  If you pm me with your e-mail address I'll forward it to you.

Regards,   Steve   :O)  .

That looks like a good possibility for Susan's details, garngad.

Some bio details here on Robert/Bertie Thomson www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Thomson%2C+Robert

bertieoftheCeltic, if you check the original registration certificate images that garngad mentions above from Scotlands People, you should be able to confirm all the necessary details on your g grandmother, Susan.

There is a burial entry showing on SP in 1940 for a Susan Thomson, aged 20 (this must be an error given the death registration showing her as aged 30?).

2/4/1940
Lair
Glasgow, St Peter's Dalbeth Cemetery

However, from that celticwiki page, Robert Thomson was buried at Abbey Cemetery, Elderslie www.findagraveinscotland.com/grave/famousGrave/77894
