I'd be interested to know how many Rootschatters have actually found rellies through the SIT.  Probably lots.

MarieC

I haven't found any rellies but thats because i don't always Contact Jones in just Cheshire.Cheshire is a big place My Jones originated from Wheelock Chester.B.4 moving on to Staffordshire forget where at the moment :-\ ;D so it would be helpful if members put where in Cheshire.I have contacted over time a few Jones in Cheshire but i have always had a reply that no my Jones came from wherever in Cheshire.Which is miles away from Chester where Grandad was born.I have also had replies with queries about all my surenames. So i know members do look in now and then,by the way it wasn't 3 i never found it was 4 the forth being Theoplus ;D

How can I phrase this - glad to know I'm not the only lonely soul who hasn't had any responses from the SIT, sorry others are in the same boat!!  I too have contacted one or two people, who have answered, but there is no relationship.  Still, I do agree - like Lost Cousins, it's important to get the names on there so that there can be matching if anyone who is related comes along!   :D

My names, or at least most of them, are on there but I have had very little feed back from them. Having said that, I have to admit to forgetting to check for others with my names and, when I looked at my list last night, I realised that I haven't filled in place details very well which makes it much more difficult for anyone else to know whether or not there might be a connection. I shall aim to put that right and to check the lists more often.

After reading all these comments I started putting my surname interests in (since there are so many it should help your statistics Bob) but can't put in French or Russian families to name a few- is there a way to add them bypassing drop down menu?

With the current situation where only one sixth of members have submitted on average seven names each we need these figues to improve considerably for the table to be of more use.  If everyone submitted the names of at least their great great grandparents these numbers would double.

I realize some people don't know the names of all their gg grandparents but they need to be added to the SIT as you find them.

I don't have a problem with getting replies to my messages.  I think the secret is to give some broad information which opens the prospect to more being available and to ask a general question about where and when their ancestors lived in the area.  Questions like is a specific person in their tree tend to get ignored.

I've had a few enquiries, but no rellies to date.

I guess most people who have put names here have also put them on other sites, so the score rate is unlikely to be spectacular.  :-\
