Trying to find Birth around 1822
« on: Friday 04 July 08 21:52 BST (UK) »
Hello
Wonder if anyone can give me advice on how to proceed.
I am looking for record of the birth of my GG grandad. I know he was married in 1847 to Elizabeth Duncan, They were married in Crammond.
He died in 1888 in North Berwick and from his death certificate I know he was 66 when he died and his parents are down as John Denholm and Agnes Anderson.
I have found 3 children born to John and Agnes all born in Currie
James 1810
Marrion 1812
John 1814

I an not sure why his sibblings should be registered and not him.
Any advice would be very gratefully recieved.
Thanks
Sheena ;D

Hi Sheena,

What was his name?  And don't forget, the informant of his death would only give his age as they knew it - mistakes were made.

I can see Alexander in the 1881, 1871, 1851 and 1841 census, but can''t find him in 1861 at the moment.  His birth date from this varies between 1824 and 1821.

It is possible that the entry has just not been made or that it has been lost from the register.  I don't know the condition of it, but it is possible that the page is illegible.  Or even that the minister forgot to do it.  I see that Currie seems to have a register of neglected entries, which does impky that some were missed at the correct time.  Maybe Alexander was missed even from the RNE!

Hi Nell
Thanks for your help.
I am quite new to this and just wondered if I was missing something.
Think I will now try and find more information on his parents for now.
