Hi again iang

Well, well, well  !!     ::)       I have just discovered a partial passenger list for the 1856-7  voyage of  the "Indian Queen" !   (Your NAIRN family though, not listed).

I need to verify its source!      It gives me hope that somewhere, someplace, there is further information available.    :-\

Bear with me  .....  I'll do some further digging.

Hi Althea     :)

Yes, but just need to find firstly where info was sourced from ....   perhaps there's more of the passenger list lurking somewhere.    ???     We might just get lucky with this one.   :-\

Cheers

Hi Lu

Have ALL those boxes and boxes of passenger lists at Archives been transcribed??
Might be worth someone checking the card index.

Hi Bren     :)

Duh !    Silly me .... yes, it has just occurred to me that this 1856-57 voyage is rather too early to be amongst the already transcribed passenger lists at Archives, Wellington.

Hi iang

Still digging !

Just wondered if you'd made contact with the researchers at the worldconnect site ?   There are two ... possibly three, who have "trees" which include your James and Christina NAIRN  (and their descendants in NZ)  ?

Hi

.....    just a little more  ....

Have just spoken to the Early Settlers Museum at Petone (they're in my "neighbourhood").     Essentially what you see on their online database, is about as much information (I am told), as they have.    However, at the Museum itself, they have an inter-active display (on early settlers) which sometimes offers a few more snippets of info - some of which has been contributed by descendants ( and who in a few instances, have left their contact details).

The museum attendant checked a little further - sadly they have no passenger list for the "Indian Queen" ... and although they have a note of the arrival of "James NAIRN", alongside his name is the word "Anon".    (So, no further information on him, nor an indication of who supplied the details).

I have also just located the name of another James NAIRN (of Sanson), researcher - am hoping her e-mail addy is still valid ?      Will however send you the contact details, via a PM.
