PEARCE Marraiges
« on: Wednesday 02 July 08 14:49 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have finally found the time to be able to get back to tracing some roots and have progressed a little.

I am looking for two marriages at the moment. The first

Simon Pearce (b1796 Breage) to Alice (Breage) In the 1861 Census Simon is farmer at Kirton Wood, St Erth. Have looked in both Breage and St Erth parish transcriptions for the marriage but cannot find it. Any suggestions as to where I should try next?

Also, John Pearce his father who seems to have married another Alice. I can only find the two children for them at the moment. Elizabeth born 1794 St Erth and Simon above born Breage. As they seem to go back and forth between these two parishes again I have looked in both for marriage.

It would be wonderful if someone could point me in the right direction

Hi Jan

The opc site does not have anything but there is a marriage on the IGI that may fit.

23 JAN 1817   Crowan  Simon Pearce to Alice Ivey

What do you think?

That's just great Barbara. I went to the Breage transcriptions and there was an Alice Ivey baptised 27/2/1798, which is where the later census says she was born and she is just the right  age. 1861 census says that Alice was 63. Parents Thomas and Margaret

Can you please explain the initials IGI to me and is there anywhere online that I can go to see the record or is it on one of these cds? I used to live in Praze an Beeble.

Thanks again Barbara, a brilliant site. I wonder why I have never found this before? Funnily enough though, I entered Simon's details but still could not find his record. As to John, there were none in the area who married an Alice.

I wonder why you could not find Simon's marriage? Were you entering too much data in the search form?  maybe worth trying again.

Is Illogan too far for the marriage of John?  There is one there in 1792 to an Alice Dunstone.

Well I must have been doing something wrong Barbara, because I can find him today.

You must be right in thinking that Alice Dunstone was the lady he married. I am surprised to find them over in Illogan though. Not that far away at all, I had just never considered that direction. They all ended up back that way again 100/150 years later.

Thanks so much for your help Barbara

keep an open mind on that marriage because the IGI does not have full coverage.  I would mark it as a possibility  :)
