Needing Help in finding two deaths!!
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 06:12 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to find the deaths of a "Ann/Annie MILROY" and her sister Agnes Gillespie.

Ann (nee Gillespie) was born c1827 in Dailly, Ayr and married John Milroy 20 November 1854 Girvan.

They were both on the 1871 census for Ballantrae. John Milroy age 69 Farmer and Ann wife age 56.

On the 1881 Annie Milroy was age 67, Head, born Dailly, formally Seamtress and living in Knockushion Street Girvan.

Agnes was on the 1881 census age 60, born in Girvan, General Servant living at The Avenue, Girvan with a Helen Crawford who was the head.

I haven't been able to find either of their deaths, so if ANYONE can help me it would be FANTASTIC!!

I did try looking on Scotlands People but I could not see them there, but knowing me I could of easily missed them.

Looking forward in your replies, with my fingers crossed.

Wendy

Do you have the names of their parents?  That would help me to do a check at NRH.

Hi Kilsyth,

Agnes and her sister Ann parents were John and Agnes Gillespie who were both born in Ireland.

On the 1841 census John was born c1794 and Agnes was born c1796.
John died sometime between the 1841 and the 1851 census.

His wife Agnes died sometime between the 1851 and the 1861 census.

What makes it extra hard, is that I haven't been able to find their deaths either. All I know is that they lived in Dailly for a while before settling down in Girvan.

Thankyou so much for looking and I will keep my fingers crossed.

Wendy

Hi LL,

Thankyou for the information on these John Gillespie's. I had a good look at them but I am sorry to say that they are not mine. I did though copy the info and put it with my Gillespie files.

Thanks again
