one from me but it looks like someone in the past has already had go at it.  :-\  badly drawn/painted in right lapel and a curl of his hair.

Jenny

Nice restore, Jenny  :D

Yes, someone has already had a go at it, but long before the digital age.  It was very common to retouch these enlarged portraits as the enlarging process made the details very indistinct.  Retouching (especially eyes, hair and clothes) becomes more obvious as the years go by, because the picture underneath almost always fades or changes colour, but the retouching stays the same.

 Dear All,

I must indeed thank all of the above members, both at home and overseas, who responded to my posting and submitted such a wonderful selection of quality restorations.

I have already replied by personal messages of thanks to each of you.  However, the lady who owns the damaged photograph visited me a little earlier than I had anticipated and, having now seen your restorations, joins me in thanking you all for the truly valuable time, effort and artistic skill that you devoted to producing such an amazing selection of high quality results.  They are deeply appreciated.

It is wonderful to know that the Spirit of Helpfullness shines so brightly among the members of Rootschat and we cannot but wonder how much better the world would be if everyone followed your example.

God bless you all and -  and Thank you, again!

David
