What sheer coincidence that I read your posting on Roots last night regarding the Follands, and tonight I have read a Centenary booklet for York Place Baptist Church Swansea in which Mrs Henry Folland is mentioned. The re-opening of the Chapel after renovations, was performed by Mrs Folland, J.P. (LLwynderw) on Thursday December 5th 1929. A report of the proceedings appeared in the Cambria Daily Leader on December 6th.
Reference was made of the fact that her father had preached there 40 years ago.
After the Mayor's tribute, Mrs Folland made a speech in which she said "the greatest menace to the Christian Church was the growth of secularism, and a growing disregard for the sanctity of the Sabbath. The result was that there were decreased attendances at Divine Worship, and a growing desire to turn the Lord's Day into a holiday, and not a holy day; a day for organised games with music in the parks rather than a day of worship!!!! . . . ." etc.
