Hi Yvonne,

My guess for the mother's name is Susan, maiden surname McQueen.

Cause of death Internal organic affection (something) poisoning but I have no idea about the missing word  :P

I think the cause of death looks like Internal organic affection.

Not sure it makes sense though. :-\

I agree that it looks like mecuric poisoning.

Hello Yvonne

If 30 on '61 census would make him 39 or 40 in 1870.  I see it says aged ? 58 on death entry.  I take it your 30 was a typo?  If 58 - makes a birth of approx 1812.  Have searched the IGI 10 years either side and can't find a birth world wide that would appear to be his.

Occupation appears to be carter.  Do you have a marriage entry for him and Ann?  A search between 1832 and 1870 on the IGI brings up no results for Daniel and an Ann McNeill in either Scotland or Ireland.

Can you please post the address where he was in the census and others in household.  There are always others with census access who like to ferret things out.   The free 1841 census at www.freecen.org.uk only brings up 2 Daniels - neither appear to be yours.

Regards,   Steve :O)

I think his age on death was 38-making him born c 1831 as Yvonne first thought  ;)

He appears to be listed as Daniel MacAulay in 1861 living at 22 Tobago Street, St Cuthberts Edinburgh with wife 29 year old Ann and 4 year old daughter Ann Deuar MacAulay.

Regards

Carol
