Pitt family - Brighton
« on: Thursday 19 June 08 03:56 BST (UK) »
Looking for info on family of Henry Pitt and Fanny Moseley.

They are listed in the 1901 Census with two sons and two daughters. The daughters are both listed at 19 but the record shows Annie at 19 and Lucie at 17. Sons are Joseph and Leopold.

I am unable to find the family in the 1891 Census or a birth record for Lucie. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I cannot see them on the 1891 census either :(

15 Crescent Cottages
Fanny Pitt head widow age 52 Char woman all born Brighton
Annie dau age 19 Laundress
Lucie ? dau age 17 Laundress
Joseph son age 16 Butchers errand boy
Leopold son age 13

Are you sure The Lucie is not meant to be Louie?

Is this the same family? If it is I cannot find any of them on the 1891 census Is there a Irish connection?

Hi,

Here they are in 1891, same address as 1901 :)

1891  RG12/803  f.40  p.31  Brighton
15 Crescent Cottages

PITT
Henry     Head    49    Painter       London
Fanny     Wife    40                     Brighton
William     Son    14    Page
Charles    Son    13    Scholar
Samuel    Son    12        "  "
Joseph     Son    11        "  "
Louisa     Daur     9        "  "
Anne       Daur     7
Leo          Son     3                   All children dittoed as born Brighton

I also found this on the IGI,

Samuel PITT
Birth:  16 MAR 1878 Dublin, Ireland
Father:  Henry PITT
Mother:  Fanny Mosely PITT

Looking at the different birthplaces of the oldest children I wonder if Henry was in the army before settling in Brighton :-\

Do you have their marriage cert. ?

Henry PITT    Mar Q 1873    Brighton    2b  258
Fanny Mosely with same details.

which might confirm this and/or help find Henry in earlier censuses.

Regards
Daisy
