A family mystery
« on: Tuesday 17 June 08 19:15 BST (UK) »
Edith Hilda Neville was born in 1896 in Woodford, Essex. On 23rd Feb. 1918 she married her cousin, Leslie Robin Neville, at the Gospel Oak Wesleyan Chapel. Family lore has it that there was a female child who died in infancy from this marriage but I can't find out anything about her. Neither can I find out when Edith Hilda died. She was still alive in the late 1920s but dead before June 1932 when Leslie Neville married again.

I live 100s of miles away and can't visit London to do any research in the near future. Can anyone can help me, please?

Images for births & deaths on freebmd go up to 1935 at the moment.
You can VIEW online using that, searches probably won't cover it.

Hi,
Possible for Ediths death

OND 1930 Neville Edith H       Marylebone  1a 595

I have searched deaths from 1928 to dec 1931 and this is the only Edith where age and place of death fit, the next nearest is Edith M Neville aged 36 Newton A.
 Best wishes
 Cathy :)

Am I being especially thick - please can you explain that?

I've just tried, as an example, my husband born in 1935 and his sister 1934 and got nothing for either.

Thanks

Pauline I wouldn't say 1935........more like 1925 and even then with quite a few gaps. ;D

Christine,You will need to check the complete indexes of births marriages and deaths on a website such as Find My Past or Ancestry. You can check the completeness of Free BMD on the front page of their website by clicking on the word 'here' at the end of the sentence  "WE HAVE NOT YET TRANSCRIBED THE WHOLE INDEX. A breakdown by event and year can be viewed here"
