"More than 4200 of Ngāi Te Rangi descendants have registered their details with Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Rangi Iwi Trust and will therefore have voting powers in key decisions that need to be made in the new year yet according to the 2006 Census more than 12,000 people claim Ngāi Te Rangi as one of their main Iwi.
The team at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Rangi have been working tirelessly to ensure all current information held by the Iwi register is accurate and up to date. There have been some members who have registered their whānau without any contact information or personal details.
To be part of decision making for the future of Ngāi Te Rangi descendants of the Iwi should be fully registered in order to receive communication information and voting papers when applicable. Participation by as many descendants of Ngāi Te Rangi is critical to gain a true impression of what Ngāi Te Rangi wants for their future.
