ROUND FAMILY of Oldswinford
« on: Sunday 15 June 08 03:27 BST (UK) »
G'day all, I am puzzled as to the relationship, if any, of the individuals with the surname of Round.

There was Richard Round who married Mary Chance on 31 May 1696 in St. Marys, Oldswinford.

Then there was a Margaret Round who married Mary's Brother Thomas on the 2 December 1694. Margaret died in March of 1709 and buried in St. Mary, Oldswinford.

Thirdly, there was a Anne Round who married George Chance (all three Chance's were siblings) on the 18 March either in 1706 or 07. After George died Anne then married Joseph Townsend and later died in 1713.

Does anyone know of the Round's of Oldswinford and if so could they give me info on their parentage/relationship

Thank you

Leigh
Chance, Cartwright, Gauden from Worcestershire, Mason of Rowley Regis, Kestle from Cornwall and Smartt from Middlesex. Okay, so many inter family marriage, any one living in Worcestershire just about

I saw your message on roots chat.  Unfortunately, I can't answer your quries but I have been looking through a book  about the Lye and Wollescote and it mentions "Rounds".

1)  There was a J.P Round company established in 1849 which manufactured nails, chains etc and in 1874 began making hollow-ware goods. It was still going in October 1922.

2)   A marble memorial in St John's Church is erected saying:

The electric lighting of this church was installed through the generosity of Mr Philip Round of Lye in faithful memory of his departed father the late Mr Philip Round. A devoted and faithful worshipper of this church for upwards of half a century, who passed away 8 September 1892. And this tablet was erected by the members of the church in grateful recognition of his generosity.  (November 1926).

3)   There was a Lye Nursing Cadet called ? Round.

I hope this is of some interest to you.  Good luck with your search.
