Thanks for this info. You have done really well finding all this out. I have been a wee bit cheeky and put the info. up on my family tree - I hope you don't mind! If you make one more post on here we can use the private message facility. I don't think we are supposed to put recent family details up but it would be good to know your name!! Whereabouts does your sister live - I am near  to the border of Oxfordshire (Thame area) and another 2nd cousin from my grandad's side (Mary Hamilton's husband) lives in Oxfordshire too - we got in touch via this site!  Did you post on the Celtic wiki site recently? it used to be called Kerrydale street - (there is some photos of Davie on there, match stats etc -)  because someone has posted on there - they are Davie's great grandson too!!! I sent them a message but haven't heard back yet. Speak soon (hopefully)  :)

Hi M, I'm glad the info was useful.  I have been speaking to my sister who lives in the Bicester area and she has some family info and photos which I hope to have a look at in the near future.  You may be interested to know that you have a few more relatives in various shapes and forms down south as well, my mother's sister lives in Bedfordshire.  As for posting on Kerrydale Street, well that wasn't me but I know of two cousins and a niece who used to live in Glasgow but I lost contact years ago.  One of the cousin's I think inherited David Hamilton's football memorabilia (medals, caps etc) which I remember seeing at my Grandad's house(John Joseph) in Glasgow when I was a youngster.  I think I will leave a message on Kerrydale Street as well, you never know!
Hope to speak to You soon.....

Hello

I'm a member of the Celtic Graves Society. We have found Davie Hamilton's final resting place in Dalbeth cemetery. I'll happily pass on the details to family members. We have already taken a family member to his graveside.

Davie was a member of the legendary Celtic team which won six league titles in a row between 1904-1910.

Here is his page on www.thecelticwiki.com

PM sent

You may be interested in seeing these too. He was a highly thought of player to the extent that he had his own "brake" club (like a modern day supporters club). I have also heard a supporters song of the era which sings his praises and the famous Celtic six-in-a -row team.

Hello all,
Having had such luck (Hi Gabrielle!) with finding my relatives of Mirren Darragh on this site I have decided I am on a roll and will now try to trace any info. on my mum's mum's side. Her dad was Davie Hamilton  - he played for Celtic between about 1905 and 1911. My mum always said he played for the greatest Celtic team ever!! He had five children  - 2 boys and 3 girls ( I know the girls Nan, Jeannie and Mary - Mary was my grannie). I think one of the boys may have been Joseph? My great grannie died when Mary was about 3/4 years old. I know my family on Nan and Jeannie's side but would love  to get some info and be in touch with any of the boy's families. Does anyone have any knowledge of them please. I will be forever grateful ( again :-) )

I've just joined here, pm me your e-mail address.
My dad has one of Davie's Scottish Cup medals, which is on show at celtic park

Camillo - thank you so much for the photo's, I have seen the football ones but never his funeral - my mum was there and said it was an amazing turnout. It is so kind of you to pass on the information about him.
Hammyceltic - great to hear from you too!- we are distant relations and it's lovely that we are all proud of our heritage. Which one of Davie's children are you descended from? My granny was his youngest daughter Mary.
I only wish my mum was alive to see all of this - she was a passionate Celtic supporter all of her life, and was always proud of her Glasgow roots.... she would be really pleased and I can imagine her singing her Celtic songs reading all this!!
Best Wishes to you all xxx
