Thank Hammy for the photos.

It was him who originally posted them.

Great to see family members meeting on here.

Thanks again Camillo.
My mum used to sing some Celtic songs - I've seen  lyrics on another site for the '6 in a row' song but they weren't the lines mum taught us - no mention of wee Hammy - I think they must have lyrics from a later era! ! He was definately mentioned in that one!
Thanks to all who have contributed so far and look forward to gwetting in touch with more family members - this is the best (and friendliest) geneaology site I have ever found!!

I've heard this song sung by an elderly Celtic supporter who has so many stories about the hoops. I'll try to get a link for it. Might even get him to sing it and record it.

Do you know anything more about the middle photo of the funeral, like where/when it was taken etc?
Regards,

Marvin that isn't the funeral. It was the regular meeting of the Davie Hamilton Brake Club.

The Brake Clubs were the predecessors of the supporters clubs and used to travel to the games on horse drawn carts. The best players had a brake club named after them and Davie was one of them. I believe the David Hamilton Brake Club left from the Gorbals to travel the short distance to Celtic Park.

Some of the original still survive (in Bairds Bar in the Gallowgate, Glasgow for example) but I don't know what happened to the Davie Hamilton banner.

ahhh - I'd never even heard of a 'brake club' before today - shows what a phillistine I am! My sister said the photo looked too old to be the funeral! I am amazed at all the things I am finding out...
Not sure why it would have left from the Gorbals - my mum's family came from the Calton. I assumed that's where they all lived originally....
obviously I've still got a lot to learn...
Thanks again,
Regards,
M x
