Help pls re immigration records 1854-1880
« on: Friday 21 January 05 14:47 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where I can find records of immigrants from England to NY between 1854 and 1880?  Failing that, any other records which might help would be welcome.  I've found 2 possible ancestors on the 1880 US census LDS, but want to trace them back to their address in England.

If anyone can help, these are the details from the 1880 census:

Address: Glenham, Dutchess, NY

Wm Aspinal age 50 (Wid) born Eng
Mary Aspinall age 22 (dau) born Eng
John Aspinall age 19 (son) born Eng

Address: Brooklyn, Kings, NY City-Greater NY
Wm Aspinall age 49 born Eng
Wife Carolina age 46 born Brooklyn, NY
Children - lots but eldest Joseph aged 26 and born NY

Thanks

McDANIELSON - worldwide
MULDOON/BANKS Co Sligo
SCHOFIELD Yorkshire
PULLEN/PULLEYN + variants Yorkshire
DUTTON - Stockport, Glossop, Halifax
JACKSON - Stockport
WALKER - Ireland
McDONALD/McDONNELL - Ireland Co Mayo
STAKE - Brighouse
BRADLEY - Pontefract
ASPINALL/SYKES - Brighouse & Ripponden

These newspaper articles might help establishing the Brooklyn family
http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html

This is a link to the state (NOT FEDERAL) census showing the family:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11573-84089-73?cc=1918735&wc=M9SL-HBT:n110363389

an earlier state census which suggests that William was the son of Joseph & Eleanor Aspinall
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-25923-38315-52?cc=1937366&wc=M99Q-N65:n700395246

here is William's son:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Aspinall

Here's William's chatty obituary giving birthplace as rye (go through http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html
type in "joseph aspinall" and the obituary will come up under (Brooklyn) standard april 1919
