Hello,
With reference to your kind offer to do searches, I'm wondering if you have a moment to look for one of my ancestors?

David Tod, b c1731 Kettle, Fife. Wife Margaret Greig (married 2.7.1756 Markinch, Fife). All children born in Kettle, Fife, so I'm hoping David and Margaret stayed put and died there!

I'm hoping that this might breath some new life into the search for this side of the family as this is as far back as I've got.

The Boy in the Train :)

by Mary Campbell Smith ::)

Whit wey does the engine say 'Toot-toot'?
Is it feart to gang in the tunnel?
Whit wey is the furnace no pit oot
When the rain gangs doon the funnel?
What'll I hae for my tea the nicht?
A herrin', or maybe a haddie?
Has Gran'ma gotten electric licht?
Is the next stop Kirkcaddy?

There's a hoodie-craw on yon turnip-raw!
An' seagulls! - sax or seeven.
I'll no fa' oot o' the windae, Maw,
Its sneckit, as sure as I'm leevin'.
We're into the tunnel! we're a' in the dark!
But dinna be frichtit, Daddy,
We'll sune be comin' to Beveridge Park,
And the next stop's Kirkcaddy!

Is yon the mune I see in the sky?
It's awfu' wee an' curly,
See! there's a coo and a cauf ootbye,
An' a lassie pu'in' a hurly!
He's chackit the tickets and gien them back,
Sae gie me my ain yin, Daddy.
Lift doon the bag frae the luggage rack,
For the next stop's Kirkcaddy!

There's a gey wheen boats at the harbour mou',
And eh! dae ya see the cruisers?
The cinnamon drop I was sookin' the noo
Has tummelt an' stuck tae ma troosers. . .
I'll sune be ringin' ma Gran'ma's bell,
She'll cry, 'Come ben, my laddie',
For I ken mysel' by the queer-like smell
That the next stop's Kirkcaddy!  :D

Jacci & Diddy

Thanks to the both of you once again  ;D. I don't think either of those Robert Adamson's are mine. I don't have a d.o.b but if I had to guess it would be around 1760.

Love the poem. If only Kirkcaldy's 1841 census wasn't on the ocean floor, though  :-\

wow, just hit the jackpot i think:

Margaret Tod  Kettle Rigs  d.4/6/1791 age 62
wife of William Swan  but buried under stone belonging to David Tod - tenant in Milldeans.

also margt Tod  kettle Hill d. 4/5/1741 age abt 60  OPR 435-5

and Balmalcolm  d.19/7/1772 age abt 59  OPR 435-5

can someone tell me - if OPR reocord is same number does that mean the same family / stone?
