Bones - no sign of james trail scoonie  but there are 22 james / 11 Elizabeths / 429 trails altogether!!  can you therefore give me any other names ie children because relatives are quite often mentioned and i may be able to narrow it down.

off to work soon but will keep on query.

Deb D - nothing immediately although there are james mitchells.

do we know where he came from originally - birth place /parents wedding etc. it might help - there might be a memorial there.

will look in books anyway. i have the Western & ne parishes.

Thanks, Diddy ... his father James Sr (also listed as a "seaman" on James Jr's marriage registration) was from Crail, and that's where they were living at the time of the marriage of James Jr's son.  It's probably worth mentioning that I suspect there may be some confusion about which James was lost at sea ... or ... perhaps both of them were???

James Sr is noted as "deceased" by the time of James Jr's marriage to Helen Henderson, 31.12.1873, and James Jr is marked down as "deceased" by the time of his son Archibald's marriage to Agnes Morgan, in Kirk Wynd, 12.2.1895.

Cheers
Deb

Hi Diddy,

James and Elizabeth Trail had the following children: Isabel, James, David and Thomas. They married in Kettle, but all the children were born in Scoonie, the last (Thomas) was born in 1800.

Many thanks, Diddy ... it doesn't seem the first one is right for James Sr, since the date of death precedes James Jr's birth by a good few years.  James Jr wasn't born until 1849 (marked down as 23 when he married in 1873).  Also working mathematically (ouch, that hurts!)  the second one couldn't be James Sr, either, as that would have made him close to 80 when James Jr was born.

Pity ... would've been nice to have appended "Captain" to somebody's name lol.

Hi there  :)

I'd love it if you could take a look and see if you can find any Grubb's, located particularly in Crail and St Andrews.  Thanks!
