Hi diddy,

LOCHTIE/LOCHTY is (perhaps surprisingly) a very rare name!  And another variant (incredibly rare) is LOUGHTIE/LOUGHTY.

Perhaps I have them all.

I was just being a bit cheeky and thinking that another pair of eyes in the pre-1855 deaths might add something ...

And hoping that there might be another LOCHTIE researcher out there ...

The name seems to appear first in Dunfermline records (from Aberdour) ca early 1600s (which might be nothing more than a reflection of the dates when records were kept!!)  And then, in pre-1855 days, mainly Aberdour and Dalgety - perhaps a few Burntisland, Dunfermline, Inverkeithing, and Kinghorn.

Two main lines seem to diverge very early on ...

Don't worry about it ....  ;D

Best regards,

JAP

Me again, sorry, I've been down with the 'flu so not "compos mentis" enough to call back and thank you for looking up the James Mitchells.  Very much appreciated, wish I'd gotten back earlier.

Did anyone find out about that 1841 census that reportedly went to Davy Jones' Locker in a ferry sinking?

Should we call in Bob Ballard?   :o
I live in Sydney, Australia, and I'm researching: Powell, Tatham, Dunbar, Dixon, Mackwood, Kinnear, Mitchell, Morgan, Delves, & Anderson

Could I be cheeky and ask you to look up the following deaths for me?
George Penman  and his wife Janet, formerly Izatt both born  in the 1790's  and living in the Dunfermline area  - you have already found what I believe to be their son and grandson on an earlier posting  ;)
Alexander Izett around 1840 Dunfermline area
Andrew Izatt around 1850 Dunfermline area
George Izatt before 1852  Dunfermline area
Helen Izatt formerly Spowart 1850ish
Katherine Adamson formerly Wilson before 1790 Carnock
Robert Wylie and his wife Janet Christie died between 1829 and before 1864 Dunfermline
Sorry to be so vague - I have been trying to do a tree for a friend who flies out to Scotland on Tuesday, everything was well on schedule & then no computer for three weeks :(
I will understand perfectly if this is too much to ask. There are so many Izatts,Penmans and Wylies in this family all naming their children the same and many marrying relatives, which is very helpful of them in normal circumstances, but frustrating when you ony have 24 hours to get things sorted ???
Thankyou
barbara

 hi barbara
i'm adding these for two reasons
1) tulliallan not far outside of dunfermline.
2) theres not many wylies on the death index and they might connect to the ones your looking for.
now i must go to dunfermline and collect my daughter from the hospital for a couple of hours. shes just had three ops in five days. (all through a dog bite)
