Hi Diddy

Thanks for your help. The death you found for John Black could certainly be his father. Makes sense he had the same name as son and same profession and birthplace. I had not actually discovered his parentage yet.

Re. Isobel Lowson - this is a bit of a mystery!  I have been unable to locate a marriage listing for John Black and Isobel Lowson but do have a birth listing for their son John born in Torryburn 11/11/1810. I also have the death certificate of John (younger) which states his mother and father were John Black and Isobel Lowson. Could be they never married!  However, have found a marriage between a John Black and Isobel Crawford in Torryburn 30/6/1810. Also a birth certificate for 28/10/1770 which gives details of Isabel Crawford having a child Mary Isabel by John Black the younger, a twister in Dunfermline, born illigitimately. The 3 families do seem linked somehow, but how?  Have looked at birth of Isobel Lowson and found a birth certificate for 15/4/1784 in Torryburn - parents George Lowson and Margaret Reid but not sure if this is the same one!  All a bit of a muddle!

John's death certificate gives mother as Isobel (Isabel) Black ms Lowson or Lawson, which gives he impression they did marry! However, it could have been she just took his name for convenience and appearances I suppose especially as the info. was given by the son.

Hi Sarah

Reading through the posts,,the name Bogie came up,I have a David Bogie who married  an Euphemia Leighton about 1830 in Auchterderran,I will try to see how far down the line I can get.

Peter

Hi teadealer, slgood and jac2,

It looks as though these are (or might well be) two different lines?

The BOGIEs of slgood (Sarah) and jac2 (jacci) seem to be one line; and the BOGIEs of teadealer (Peter) a different line?

Later edit:
What I posted here yesterday was irrelevant to the topic of this thread (FIFE Death Index pre 1855) so I have moved the content to a new thread at:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,319797.msg2005787.html#msg2005787
in order to avoid cluttering up this thread.

Best regards,

JAP

Hi Jac and Diddy,

I'm trying to find the deaths of Andrew Meldrum and his wife Agnes Gray possibly in the Scoonie area sometime after 1804. They were born around 1770, and had at least one daughter called Ann.

Many Thanks
Bones ;)
