Help with uniform
« on: Friday 13 June 08 07:53 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I'm thrilled to say that my father-in-law has just found an interesting haul of photos including this one...

This is his uncle, William B Anderson, born in Broughty Ferry, near Dundee in 1900. I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of his regiment in WW1?

Thank you

Sarah

Could you scan it a little larger pse? ;)

The badge is somewhat difficult to discern at this level when blown up! ;D

I may have overdone the reduction in size a little!

This should be better...

BTW

I think we are dealing with a post WW1 chap here...He certainly looks older than 18yrs...

And of course...A 1922 ptn jacket (well, can't fully confirm as I can't see the bottom pockets!)

That's interesting - so if he was in the army post ww1 then I assume he was a regular soldier?

Hi  :)

Not easy to determine as the view of the badge is not too distinct due to the frayed cockade.

But 80% in favour of him being a Seaforth Highlander.

Could he possibly have been conscripted when he was 18 years?  Just thinking this as he appears to come from a well-to-do area/family.  Therefore, I'm wondering why he would be a Private soldier!  :o
