« on: Thursday 12 June 08 23:40 BST (UK) »
I am wondering if anyone can tell me if there is an INDEX for outward Shipping from the Essex area and
My gr gr grandfather come to Australia in 1852-1853 and his name is Thomas Phillips ( born 1819 in Yorkshire) . His wife and children come out later in 1860.

Hope some one can assist us with this

Kind Regards

Ann

Hello Ann

If you list the wife's name and any children of theirs as well as the ages and where born it might assist the cause.........

Why the Essex area? as he is a Yorkshire man

Where is he/they in 1841?

This post would be better suited to the EMIGRANT section........EMIGRANTS TO AUSTRALIA where people have the research capabilty to assist the cause.......or you could try a site like

http://www.cyndislist.com/ships.htm     (I must admit that I find this site hard work.....)

If he/they were assisted immigrants try this site below....if they landed in Sydney or Newcastle
http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/searchform.aspx?id=4

Researching names BRYANT (Camberwell), PASTERFIELD (Essex and all), RAY (Holborn/Islington areas back to Brentford), POWELL (Glouc & beyond?)
Fletcher (Glouc into Warwickshie into Lancs?), BUCKLEY (Chatham area), Watson (Chatham area).
