Hello Marie. No more Dawsons at Stanley Crook.
What year and age for John were you looking for?

Adam

Hi Adam

He died in 1891 at around 36 years of age.  He lived in Billy Row so I would have thought that St Thomas would be the relevant churchyard.  Perhaps it is an unmarked grave?  As far as I know this was the only churchyard in the Billy Row area so I can't think of anywhere else he would be.  His wife was called Jane.

Kind regards

Marie

Hello Marie. I have had a look at all the Dawson inscriptions that I have  at Witton le Wear, Tow law, Stanley , Etherley, Hunwick and Crook and there is no one with the name and date that you are looking for.

Thank you so much for your efforts Adam.  It is very much appreciated.  Hopefully he will appear in Parish Records if/when I can get to look through them.  I'm assuming that these will be at the Central Records Office in Durham rather than held by the individual churches.

I really appreciate your time.

Kind regards

Marie

Hi Adamand,

Could I ask if you have any inscriptions for St. John's Church at Langley Moor.  Gt.grandfather died at Langley Moor but we can't find out where he was buried.  It was suggested that it could even have been at the cemetery in Meadowfield.  Can you help?

  Many thanks,

Hello Doric. The nearest that I have to Langley Moor is St Brandon at Brancepeth.

Hi Adamand,

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply to my query.  The name I am looking for is Schellenberg, although gt.grandad died at Langley Moor not sure if it would come under Brancepeth.

Hello Doric. I have no Schellenbergs in any of the inscriptions that I have.
It is not a very common name. The only Schellenberg that I have heard of is Keith Schelenberg who's family ran a business in Middlebrough .

Thanks Adamand for taking the trouble to check for 'Schellenbergs' in your indexes.

Keith Schellenberg is a relation via another line of the Schellenbergs.  Our gt.grandfather came to this country from Germany in the 1860's along with his cousin who was the ancestor of Keith Schellenberg.

Again thanks for your time, it is very much appreciated.

Hello Adam.

Would Ellis include a William Ellis?

Forster & Foster: would any of these be Ann/Anne?

Thank you,
Laurie
