Excellent -- managed to with your help to find the parents and will now expand from this data.

"In loving memory of Robert Teasdale Brown, beloved son of Edward and Elizabeth Brown of Mount Pleasant, Stanley, who died August/6/1893 aged 15 years.
Also William, died January/1877 aged 3 months.
Also the above Edward Brown, who was accidentally killed, March/8/1897 aged 52 years.
Also the above Elizabeth Brown, who died March/22/1912 aged 68 years. "

May also connect others as I work on the tree.

Hello Adam,

I am quite new to this site...I already have the North Penine sites inscriptions which have been very useful for all of my Stanhope and Rookhope ancestors (Forster, Collingwood, Adamson) but I would be interested to see the inscription of the surname Freak in your list for St Thomas, Stanley, Crook.  I have found bmd records on Durham Records Online for this surname but very few memorial inscriptions presumably because they were poor leadminers and couldnt afford headstones...

Thanking you in advance

Hello Claire. Just one for Freak:-

In loving memory of Amelia (Milly) the beloved daughter of John and Annie Freak, died June/21/1911 aged 16 years.

There is a gravestone for Freak at Wolsingham dated 1777.

Thanks for the inscription Adam,

The one in Wolsingham, John Freak, is proving difficult to fit into my tree as I cannot find any evidence of his birthdate which would prob be around 1686..

Thanks again

Hello Adam,  Many thanks for your reply #86, definitely the correct Grinling, Susan Grinling (nee Race) was born 19 Feb 1832 Horringer Suffolk, her death on 8th May 1906 would mean she was 74 when died not 54, could the 7 have weathered to be mistaken for a 5.? Her husband Johnson Grinling was born 1833 & died 1916 age 83, pity there isn't any more info for him on the stone, but all info is gratefully received, thank you, I hope you are now fit and well after being in hospital.
                     Regards    Gerry.

Hello Gerry. Sorry it was 74. My sheet of paper says 74 and I should have typed 74.
You mention Race. I have just posted inscriptions for Race on the Crook thread and of course Stanley is usually known as Stanley, Crook.

Thanks, I feel fine at the moment.

Thanks Adam, everything now fits in, also I will watch for connections with the Race family name in the Crook area.  Regards    Gerry.
