Well I think it would be nice for it to go to the direct descendants of Charlotte or Caroline...but how to know?...

I would contact them all and which fits best, and you feel happy about....then pass on, but up to you.

You will probably have other suggestions, but I am sure it will have a happy outcome, thanks to you and your OH, better than it being binned, which lots would have done.

Whatever you decide, I am sure it will make someone from the Hulcoop/Hawthorne/Sabin descendants very happy.

Pat OH and yourself on the back for rescuing such treasure for someone  :)

Best wishes

Cas

I was fortunate enough this year to manage to reunite a family bible my mother bought in a sale in the late 60s, early 70s with someone on Rootschat who was a direct descendant of a name in that bible.

I think my Mum bought it because she thought it was so sad it had left the family - she would have been very pleased to know that it had gone back to the family.

Mum also bought a sack of old documents in a sale which if I remember right included some details of a family but  are so faint you can hardly read them.  It is my project this winter to go through the sack and try to find a home for these also.

Cathy,

Good luck with that project and good job with the bible. It's a great feeling to be able to bring something back to a family like that.

I live in a huge antiques area and like to go and get details on photos and albums and try to locate family. I've been successful once with a beautiful photo album. It included a wedding invitation and a pressed flower, along with photos. I didn't buy it as it was a bit pricey for someone not related, but I took down all the names, did research, and found a family member who contacted the antique store and managed to acquire the album. Yipee.

Haven't been in a while, but am feeling inspired.

That's great Kath........there really should be a 'sticky' thread with all the success stories on it.    Just imagine how it could galvanise others into finding and returning 'lost' items.
